Interlibrary Loan


Interlibrary Loan is a free service that provides NDSU faculty, staff, and students access to the collections of local, regional, and national libraries. This guide provides information about interlibrary loan (ILL) and how to use it.

Log in to your Interlibrary Loan account

 

Under I Am Here To... click on Request Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

You will be taken to your Bison Login screen to log into the system.

From here, you will be taken directly to you Interlibrary Loan account request screen.

Create an Interlibrary Loan Request from a citation


Once you've logged in to your ILL account, you can create a request. Begin by selecting the "Create request" button.

Next. choose your item type and fill out the form.

Once you've submitted the form, you will be returned to your account page, and the new request will appear as Requested.

ILL requests can also be made directly from the NDSU Libraries catalog.

1. Begin by selecting the item you want to request. Items that NDSU does not have will usually say either "Check for available services" or "No Online Access."

2. From the record, select "Request through Interlibrary Loan."

This will prompt you to log in with your Bison Login, then take you directly to the ILL Request page.

Selecting your item from the catalog will pre-fill most of the required information, so all you will need to do is confirm that all required fields are filled and submit your request.
