Dream Country by Shannon Gibney
Shannon Gibney was my English teacher back at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC, now just Minneapolis College) and she's a great writer!
Traditional Narratives of the Arikara Indians, English Translations, Vol. 3 by Douglas R. Parks
This anthology is a collection of narratives from the Arikara people, a tribe that now primarily resides in White Shield, North Dakota. Over half of these narratives are provided by Alfred Morsette and are presented in this volume as free English translations, meaning that they are adapted to convey the meanings of the narratives in English. I recommend this book because it was shown to me by one of my best friends, who is Alfred Morsette's great-great-great grandson. Having a collection of narratives is important to both the preservation and revitalization of the Arikara traditions and language, and it provides an introduction to the storytelling traditions of the Arikara people.
